Marilyn Lee (Schmoll) Edelman, 77, of Sabetha, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
Marilyn was born on January 29, 1948, the daughter of Bill and Mina Lee (Dewitt) Schmoll. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1966 and attended Kansas State University, where she met the love of her life, Gary Edelman. Gary and Marilyn were united in marriage on July 21, 1968, in Wellington, Kansas, and one daughter, Carrie, was born to this union. Gary and Marilyn were blessed with 52 wonderful years of marriage.
Marilyn worked as a secretary for Wenger Manufacturing for 47 years, retiring on December 31, 2017. Marilyn was a member of the United Methodist Church and attended the Apostolic Christian Church of Sabetha with her family for the past six years.
Marilyn served on the Nemaha County Farm Bureau Board with Gary and was named Kansas Farm Bureau Queen in 1971. She enjoyed sewing, scrapbooking, and needlepointing. Marilyn was very talented with her hands, from her beautiful manuscripts to designing her very own designer clothing. Above all, Marilyn valued spending time with her family.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gary.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Carrie (Wayne) Grimm; her granddaughters, Elsie, Sadie, Emmie, Estie, and Nellie; her sister, Marty Albertson; her brother-in-law, Mark Edelman; her sister-in-law Nancy Edelman; her step-father-in-law, Wayne Dettman; her aunt, Mary Pat Dewitt; her nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church in Sabetha. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha. Interment will be made in the Albany Cemetery, north of Sabetha. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sabetha Community Hospital and Nemaha County Home Health and Hospice, both located in Sabetha, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
