Marilyn was born on June 20, 1942, in Cottage Grove, Oregon, to Hugh McBride and Elva Jackson. At an early age, she and her mother moved to North Star, Nebraska, where they lived in the North Star Store. Elva later married Maurice Cantral, who adopted Marilyn as his own. Marilyn graduated from Fullerton High School in 1961 and went on to attend the Lincoln School of Commerce. After completing her education, she began working for the Motor Vehicle Department at the Nebraska State Capitol.
On December 29, 1962, Marilyn married Lowell Eugene Foland at the United Methodist Church in Fullerton. Together, they raised three children-Jeffrey Lowell, Julie Ann, and Maryjo Tara-and made their home near Belgrade in a couple different houses. Marilyn helped on the farm and raised her children before taking on various roles as a clerk at Genoa C Store, Bosselman's, and Albion Thriftway. She was also an active member of her community, participating in the Belgrade Dozen Extension Club, the local art club, and volunteering for many local events, including the Belgrade Centennial celebration.
Marilyn loved traveling with Lowell, especially the many trips and cruises they took together. They treasured their time at their winter home in Florida, where they made many friends and shared countless adventures.
She leaves behind her husband, Lowell of Belgrade; daughters, Julie (Todd) Buettner of Primrose and Maryjo (Jeff) Gallion of Chapman; 11 grandchildren: Tyler (Leah) Foland, Beth (Grayson) Frohberg, Maggie (Tyler) Payton, Amber (Sheldon) Wattier, Wesley (Kelly Loughman) Zoucha, Taylor Scott, Melissa (Dan Wilker) Zoucha, Trey Zoucha, Dyanna Buettner, Jared (Rorie Loveland) Gallion, and Julieanne Gallion; nine great-grandchildren: Blue, Veronica, and Kade Zoucha, Vira Wilker, Eli Seymour, Jake Foland, Neil Frohberg, and Willow and Bentley Payton; sister-in-law, Ann Sebastian of Omaha; and brothers-in-law, Terry (Margie) Foland of Fullerton and Tom (Phyllis) Foland of Omaha.
