Marilyn Gunnarson Obituary

MARILYN FAY GUNNARSON Marilyn Fay Gunnarson passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 14, 2023, at Baylor Heart Hospital, Plano, Texas. Marilyn was born April 16, 1934, to Peter and Frances Peterson of Granite Falls. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and she was very proud of her Scandinavian heritage. Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead in 1956, with a degree in Elementary Education. She married the love of her life, Ben Gunnarson, on April 20, 1957, at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. In 1963, they moved to Dallas, Texas, where they raised their three children: Andrea, Gregory and Patricia. They were married for 66 wonderful years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Frances Peterson, her brother, Paul Peterson and her son Gregory Gunnarson. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Ben Gunnarson, daughters Andrea Janak and husband Dean, Patricia Grossman and husband Steven, grandchildren: Allison Achtenberg and husband Alan, Grayson Janak, and Jordyn Gunnarson. She is also survived by her brother, Gale Peterson and wife Diane, sister, Cheryl Austin and husband Orlo, sister-in-law Darlene Peterson Hauschild and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Marilyn was a faithful woman who loved the Lord and her family. She will be greatly missed. A special thanks to Dr. Ryan Mandell, Dr. Andrew Nguyen and the nursing staff at Baylor Scott and White Heart Hospital for their expert care.

Please accept my deepest condolences. I was good friends with Greg and Mrs. Gunnarson always made me feel like part of their family. My prayers go out to Mr. Gunnarson, Andrea and Patricia.
