Marilyn Ann Johnson passed away on January 21, 2026, peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. Marilyn was born March 16, 1932, in Roswell, NM, to Forest B. and Mary M. Sallee. Marilyn was married to her high school sweetheart Malcolm L. Johnson on July 28th, 1950, in Roswell, NM, and together they welcomed two children, a son & daughter.
Marilyn was a graduate of Roswell High School, ENMU-Roswell, and dental assistant school. Marilyn had many jobs throughout her life, which include working at New Mexico Residential Treatment Division as a personal secretary, Fabry Real Estate, New Mexico Income support division, Roswell Independent School District as a secretary at Military Heights. She was also a medical secretary for Dr. Jerry Chapman. Marilyn was very involved as a Scout Master for the Girl Scouts of America.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother (“Granny”) and a loyal friend. Marilyn had a green thumb, turning her backyard into a colorful paradise. She loved cooking for her family, painting, sewing, playing tennis, fishing and camping. She enjoyed spending time at their mobile home in Alto, NM. She had a love and passion for all her dogs throughout the years. We take solace in knowing that she is now at peace and is reunited with her loved ones who have gone on to heaven before her.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm L. Johnson, her brother, Forest (Bud) Sallee and her parents, Forest B. and Mary M. Sallee.
Marilyn is survived by her brother Norm Salee of Meridian Idaho, and her son Mark L. Johnson and his wife Pattie. Daughter Michele L. Pattison and her husband Chuck, of Roswell, NM
Marilyn had five grandchildren: Jennifer Chastain of Las Cruces, NM and Laura Chastain and Juan Apodaca of Las Cruces, NM and Cristina and Chris Lethgo of Roswell, NM and Tiffany Gutierrez of Roswell, NM and Jack and Bridget Taylor of Rockwall, TX.
Her nine great-grandchildren include: Cyrus and Amelie Gutierrez; Caden, Charisma, and Cabrie Lethgo, Brayden and Jase Taylor, and Aaliyah Vera (Chastain) and Adrian Apodaca (Chastain) As well as many nieces and nephews, who she loved very much.
The Family would like to say a very special thank you to all the dedicated workers who helped in her care, including Dr. Ana P. Arnett, Dr Daniel Ridout, Gentiva Hospice - Nurses, Comfort Keepers & Alpha Home Health Care, and all her 24 hr. caregivers for whom we are all very grateful.
Services will be on Friday, February 6, 2026, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, 900 S. Main Street, Roswell, NM. Visitation will be 9 am to 2 pm, followed by a 2:00 pm Celebration of Life Service. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
