Our beloved Marilyn went to share eternal life with the Lord on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. She passed peacefully with her husband Joe by her side at Eisenhower Medical. She was born the second and final child to Jordan and Mary Dixon in Detroit, Michigan on October 10, 1952. At the age of 8, her family moved to Oceanside, California. Both intelligent and hardworking, she attended college at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California to pursue a career in Teaching. After graduating college, she moved to Melbourne, Australia, where she lived and taught physical education for 2.5 years while exploring Southeast Asia and making lifelong friendships.
Marilyn lived most of her life in the Coachella Valley, where she was a physical education teacher with the Coachella Valley Unified School District for over 35 years before retirement. She loved to teach, laugh, attend church, and would spend the summers vacationing with her husband, Joe, and her son Nick, often travelling the south western states in their RV.
She is survived by her husband and son in California, along with her brother Harrol Dixon and extended family in Texas. She was a loving mother, a devoted wife, and a great teacher. We will miss her.
