Marilyn F. (Amirault) Lima ("Mal") of North Weymouth passed away on October 1, 2024, at the age of 90. Her beloved husband of 66 years was the late Anthony M. Lima. Mal is survived by: her son Harry (Buddy) Lima (Margaret, decd.); twin daughters Judith Lima-Ziegler (Mark) and Jacquelyn (Lima) McManus (James); son Michael Lima (Nancy); sisters Harriet (Amirault) Nickerson and Judith (Amirault) DiRamio; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Joan (Amirault) Higgins and Geraldine (Amirault) Mortland.
Marilyn was born on February 23, 1934, the third of five daughters. As a result of her father, Harry Lawrence Amirault, passing away when she was seven years old, she and her younger sisters were raised by her working mother Mary Elizabeth (Griffin) Amirault with the help of her older sisters. The importance of strength of family soon became self-evident. Mal embraced this value and it became the guiding principle of her life. All those she touched throughout her life, family and others, learned and benefitted from the example of how she lived her life. Mal, considered to be a "Second Mother" by many, was a "people person" who cared about everyone she knew. In turn, everyone she knew cared about her.
In addition to being blessed with a robust sense of humor, Mal's brain was "a sponge." She seemed to comprehend and retain everything of significance she was ever exposed to. Of note is that she was a master of English grammar and a stickler for proper usage ("A preposition is not a word she would have ended a sentence with."). Had she not grown up during a time in America when a woman's career options were teacher, secretary, or nurse, she most likely would have had the title of "Doctor" or "Professor" before her name.
Family was her love, and her family loved her. Fond memories of Mal will remain warm, alive, and cherished by so many people. If we all take a lesson from how Mal lovingly lived her life, the world might become a better place.
Please. Do not send flowers. Instead, with Mal in mind, reach out to your own family members and let them know you're thinking of them.
If you wish, you may also consider a donation in memory of Marilyn Frances Lima to the American Brain Tumor Association at www.abta.org.
A graveside service will be held at a future date.

I am heart broken to just find out my friend Mal passed. I met mal in 1989 at south shore hospital, she was such an amazing warm, friendly, caring, compassionate woman. I am grateful to have been able to call her a friend. May you rest in eternal peace. I know you are with your beloved Tony.

Mal was not only my first cousin but my close friend. I have so many special memories that will live on with me . We began to be good friends when I went to college in Boston and was able to visit my Weymouth cousins more often. They were the five sisters I never had ! I have to say that the thing that resonates with me is our many phone calls. Mal loved to talk on the phone ! We kept in constant touch that way. Then, when we got computers, we were really off and running ! We had so much in common, from the Big Band music to tennis. I will miss her so much . My love and sympathy to all my Weymouth sister-cousins and their families.
