In loving memory of Marilyn E Matics
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marilyn E Matics, who peacefully left us on December 30, 2024, what would have been her late husband Alfred “Bill” Matic’s 92nd birthday. Marilyn is now reunited with her cherished Bill in heaven. She was born on January 12, 1938 in Akron, Ohio and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Mom had a passion for crocheting, bingo, and slots, always seeming to carry the luck. Grandma also enjoyed word search puzzles and playing games with her family and friends. Her warmth, love, laugh, and smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Terry (Tammy) Matics, Sue (Curtis) Slone, Pam (Mike) Castner, and Tracy (Dale) Alder; her grandchildren: Sonia (Brandon) Lehman, Curtis (Kelly) Slone, Jennifer Matics/Ciptak (Ryan Commings), Dustin (Keri) Boswell, and Morgan (Aaron) Garlick; her great grandchildren: Seth Wehrlin, Jac, Paxton and Leo Ciptak, Finn Commings, Tyler, Drew and Alex Slone, Aaliyah, Liam and Collin Boswell, Baya and Nash Garlick and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred “Bill” Matics, her parents Roman and Thelma Hoover, her ten siblings and grandson Joe Wehrlin. She is survived by her two siblings: Eldon Hoover and Betty Brown, brother in laws Kenneth and Jim Matics and many family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held at 12:30pm on January 7, 2025 at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home located at 206 Beauty Street Spencer, West Virginia 25276. Visitation will begin at 11:30 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gilboa Church and Fairview Cemetery Reedy, West Virginia.
