Marilyn Joan Nehring

Marilyn Riesbeck Nehring, age 85 of Caton, NY, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. She was born on October 25, 1940, to Carlton and Lenora (Whitaker) Riesbeck.

Marilyn graduated in 1958 from Northside High School and went to work for First National Bank and Trust Company, and the Park Avenue Food Mart. She later went on to work for the Corning-Painted Post School District in 1974, and retired in 2003, with 29 years of service. She was also a member of the Caton Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Women of the Moose.

Marilyn is survived by her partner of 41 years, Ted Heagle; children, Barbara (Alan) Ripley of Rochester, NY, Bryan (Kelly) Nehring of Corning, NY, and William (Shawna Haase) Nehring of Horseheads, NY; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne "Sonny" Riesbeck of Caton, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Marilyn is also survived by Ted's children: Lee (Joseph) Verginio of Baldwinsville, NY, Donald (fiancee Deborah) Heagle of Easley, SC, Jeffrey Heagle of Syracuse, NY, and Terry (Thomas) Steele of Hastings, NY; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her former husband, Happy (Diane) Nehring, and by her beloved Jack Russell Terriers, Jack and Jill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her sisters, Barbara Thomas and Joyce McQuillen; brothers, Raymond and Mark Riesbeck; brothers-in-law, Damon Card, Jr., Robert Thomas, and James McQuillen.

Calling Hours will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 11:00am-1:00pm at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. 1st St., Corning, NY, where a Funeral Service will follow at 1:00pm. Burial will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in Caton.
