AUSTIN - Marilyn Carol Nykaza, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the age of 85.
Memorial Service: 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2025, in Greenwood's Live Oak Chapel, 3100 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76107.
Interment: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
Marilyn Nykaza was born on November 6, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois. She was raised in Chicago, and for a time lived briefly in Atlanta, Georgia and Wausau, Wisconsin before her family settled in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2020, she moved to Austin, Texas to be closer to her granddaughters.
She met the love of her life, John Nykaza, in 1969 on the 4th of July, and the two were happily married for 38 years. Together, they started and ran Nykaza's Distinguished Auto Service for over 20 years.
Marilyn was a devoted wife and mother to her children, and prioritized her family above all else in life. She had beautiful blue eyes, a warm smile, and loved to laugh with her friends and family. She had a one-of-a-kind personality that drew people into her storytelling and spread laughter to all around her. She had faith in God and was a spirited soul.
Marilyn will be remembered for her generosity to her family and the community, where she was an avid supporter of St Jude Children's Research Hospital, Wounded Warriors Project, and several mental health organizations in both Fort Worth and Tarrant County.
Marilyn touched everyone's heart and will be missed forever by all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Helen and John Strelcis; husband, John J. Nykaza; sons, Dominic James Parenti, Robert Craig Nykaza, Joseph Craig Nykaza; and daughter, Cathlynn Marie Parenti.
She is survived by son, Ronald Parenti; son, John Nykaza and his wife, Nicole; their children, Ava, Alexa, and Olivia Nykaza; grandson, John Mark Nykaza; sister, Elaine Krisik; nieces, Lisa Krisik, Laina Krisik, Trista Krisik, Teryn Bryant; and many dear family and friends.
