Marilyn Jean Peck, lovingly known as "Momma", "Grandma," passed away on November 3, 2025, in Southaven, Mississippi, at the age of 88. Born on July 13, 1937, in Pennsylvania, Marilyn was a beacon of love and warmth, dedicated to caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren throughout her life.
Marilyn's heart was as vibrant as her personality. She had a unique blend of quirkiness, sarcastic humor, and a touch of undercover bougieness, which brought joy to everyone lucky enough to know her. Her sense of humor was infectious; she could light up a room with laughter. With an unmistakable passive-aggressive streak, she often brightened the days of those around her with her sharp wit and charm.
Marilyn took great pride in her role as a mother and grandmother. Her accomplishments were not marked by accolades or trophies but rather by the love she instilled in her family. She was particularly fond of her daughter, Virginia Jean Harrington, who predeceased her. Marilyn is survived by her loving sons, William A. (Terry) Peck of Memphis, TN, and Thomas R. (Melanie) Peck of Southaven, MS, along with her daughter Margaret S. (Bob) Morrison of Horn Lake, MS and her Sister in Law Carol Iversen of MN, and a host of other family and friends
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Jeanette Kunnen, her husband of 56 years and the father of her children William R. Peck and her special friend John E. Fontaine "Little Jack".
Her legacy continues through her 11 grandchildren: Christy (Rodrigo) Sanchez of GA, Lisa Barker of TN, Heather (Joey) Scarbrough of MN, Casey (Jay) Hamilton of AL, Adam (Natalie) Dickerson of IN, Emily Dickerson of MS, William S. Peck of TN, Stephanie (Bryan) Miller of MS, Katie Peck of TN, Ciara Morrison of MS, and Sarah (Cody) Ward of AL, as well as her twenty great-grandchildren. Each one cherished the countless memories made with their Grandma, who often surprised them with early birthday gifts and personalized surprises from her home.
Marilyn’s love extended beyond her family to her community. A longtime member of Longstreet Methodist Church and Eastern Star, her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her and those around her. She found joy in shopping, dressing impeccably, and listening to country music, often reminiscing fondly about visiting her mother and enjoying the beauty of Destin.
As we celebrate the life of Marilyn Jean Peck, we remember her kindness, humor, and deep devotion to her family. Her ability to create beautiful memories and decorate her home reflected her love for life and family. Marilyn leaves behind a tapestry woven with love and laughter, which will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
Friends and family are invited to honor Marilyn's memory during the visitation at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, MS, on November 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and the burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Her spirit will continue to shine bright in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her legacy of love will forever be a guiding light. Marilyn Jean Peck will be deeply missed, her memory cherished and celebrated by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
