Marilyn Psomas

Marilyn Psomas, 74, of Longwood, Florida entered into rest on September 25, 2021.
Marilyn was born on January 19, 1947 and was originally from Shelton. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Aunt to her family and she will be deeply missed.
Before moving to Longwood, FL Marilyn owned and operated a travel agency for many years called Take A Trip Travel located in Shelton, Ct. She was also actively involved in the White Hills Fire Department #5 in the Ladies Auxiliary, the Huntington Congregational Church, and was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, #26.
Like many women in Shelton of her time, she was an original "Martha Stewart" as she juggled the responsibilities of raising a family, tending to farm animals and gardens and working full time in her business. She was a gracious hostess and her hands bore the scars of her hospitality over the years from serving gourmet meals from her oven to her guests.
In addition to her hospitality, Marilyn was known to be very nurturing. Her home, whether in Shelton or Longwood, was a place that was opened to many in times of need during their lives. Friends and family were drawn to her due to her love of life and fun loving nature.
Marilyn loved collecting antiques and items from the New England area and focused especially on glass milk bottles from the now extinct local dairies that once littered the Connecticut countryside. This original collection evolved over time to include anything associated with cows and from that she became affectionately known as "Auntie Moo or Grandmoo" to her family. After moving to Florida in 1984, she worked for Caradonna Adventures for 35 years where she made many lifelong friends and impacted so many in a positive way with her nurturing spirit.
In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at New Smyrna Beach, traveling, hosting family dinners, and gardening with her nieces and grandchildren as they worked on her butterfly gardens.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Laura Hellman, and her sister, Ruthanne Kullberg.
Survivors include her sons, Richard Psomas Jr., John (Dana) Psomas; grandchildren, Adam Psomas and Caroline Psomas, and her nieces and nephew, Robin Kullberg, Kimberlee Kullberg, Laura Jean Forburger, and William Kullberg.
Friends are invited to greet Marylin's family on Saturday October 9, 2021 from 8:30 am to 9:00 am at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton. Her service will follow at 9:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Huntington Cemetery South. in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society by going to www.cancer.org.
