It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and Babchi, Marilyn R. Rhodes, on September 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn was born on November 5, 1946, to the late Zigmont and Sophie Boris. She grew up in Gardner, MA, graduated from Gardner High School, and attended Mount Wachusett Community College and Fitchburg State College. Marilyn worked as a telephone operator for NYNEX (now Verizon), retiring in 1997. After her retirement, Marilyn spent time caring for her family and working seasonally at her son’s vegetable stand, where she became recognized as “one of the corn ladies.”
Marilyn enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She loved visiting with family and friends, watching her favorite television shows, and reading the Gardner News. She also looked forward to her weekly scratch tickets and a hearty meal.
Marilyn’s pride and joy was her family. She is survived by her four children: Kelly Salmon and her husband, Todd of Hubbardston, Kimberly and her fiancé, Mathew Miner of Gardner, Dennis and his fiancé, Katie Murphy, of Winchendon, and Danny and his wife, Lisa of Gardner. Marilyn had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, Ella and Rocco, whom she loved beyond infinity.
Marilyn is also survived by her cousins, Chuck Boris and his wife Jayne, and Mike Boris and his wife Christy, and two bonus grandchildren, John and Conor Murphy. Marilyn was predeceased by her cousin and best friend, Theresa Kulis, as well as several aunts and uncles.
There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart. Mahatma Gandhi.
