Marilyn Joyce Sachen, 93, formerly of Bartlesville, died Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in Ottawa, KS.
Marilyn was born the daughter of Jay T. and Marie (Brodd) Bell on June 26, 1931, in Red Oak, Iowa. She was raised on the family farm near Wayside, KS, with her siblings. Marilyn graduated from Wichita North High School. The boys remembered mom as a loving and hard-working mother who was always available to them and worked a full-time job outside the home. Life took Mairlyn down many roads before she settled into Bartlesville. She went to work at Applied Automation and it was during this time she became acquainted with her next door neighbor Albert Sachen. It wasn't long before they became more than friends, uniting in marriage in 1986. She taught AL how to enjoy life and she joined his Catholic Church. They loved the Lord and were active in the many ministries of their local parish. AL died on January 8, 2003, after seventeen loving years of marriage.
Once Marilyn and AL retired they traveled the world together, visiting China, Russia, Europe and many more exotic destinations. She was still considered young when she decided to move into an independent living community. Since she was the youngest lady, she felt more like a volunteer, helping those around her. She enjoyed playing games and socializing with her neighbors. In 2016 Marilyn made the decision to move closer to her son and settled into another independent community in Ottawa, KS. She enjoyed life and loved her family. She will be dearly missed.
Marilyn is survived by her two sons, Rick Barnhart and Jack T. and Delores Barnhart; sister, Lois Vorderbruegge; grandchildren, Marlin (Jodi) Barnhart, Quentin (Lori) Barnhart and Konlyn Barnhart; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, James R. Bell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities Mary Martha Outreach, 1845 W 4th St.,
