Stoughton- Marilyn June Stensaas, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Stoughton Meadows. She was born in Madison on December 11, 1927, the daughter of Robert and Lucille Roberts. Marilyn grew up in Madison and graduated from Madison West High School in 1945. She worked as a telephone operator in Stoughton where she met her future husband. On February 27, 1949 Marilyn was united in marriage to Erwin Stensaas. They celebrated 59 years of marriage until his death in 2008.
Marilyn was a life member of First Lutheran Church and was the financial secretary for many years. She enjoyed playing BINGO, cards, bowling, golf, going to casinos, yearly trips to Las Vegas with special friends, and cheering on the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers.
Marilyn is survived by three sons, Scott, Joel (Trudy), and David (Kathy); grandchildren, Brian (Sara), Paul (Danielle), Stephanie (Shelby), Alex (Angie), Peter (Natalie), Erik, Tyler (Melissa) and Hayley (Mike); great grandchildren, Paige, Leo, Nina, Avery, Nolan and Paul; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; great grandson, Jack; and siblings, Jeanette (Bob), Charlotte (Bill), Robert, Mary (Bob), Walter, and James.
A gathering will take place from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect Street, Stoughton. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 AM at Riverside Cemetery in Stoughton.
