Marilyn Toepp, 91, of
South Bend, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Embrace Care at 10:30 am. She was born on August 29, 1932, to the late Anna and John Mackin.
She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in
South Bend, IN. She married John B. Toepp on June 2, 1956, at Holy Cross Church,
South Bend, IN.
Marilyn is survived by her three daughters, Michelle Toepp of Mexico, Maureen (Scott) Damer of Zionsville, IN and Mary (Phil) Goodhew of Union, MI; four sons, Brian (Sharon) Toepp of Indianapolis, IN, Gregory (Melinda) Toepp of
Lake Mary, FL, Jeffrey (Gina) Toepp of
South Bend, IN and Tim (Eileen) of Indianapolis, IN; 14 grandchildren, Nick (Lauryn), Eric (Kelsey), Nicole, Shaun, Hannah, Lauren, Alec, Austin, Alena, Chase, Garrett, Arden, Meghan, Erin, and a great-granddaughter, Jade.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her sister, Rosemary Hiple, her two brothers, Robert and Jim Mackin and her parents, Anna and John Mackin.
Marilyn was a long-time member of the Christ Child Society and was the president for a number of years. For many years, she knitted booties, jackets, hats, and blankets for poor families and new babies. She was also the parish secretary at Holy Cross Church and then at St. Joseph Parish in
South Bend, IN. Marilyn was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus Wives (Lady Knights) and served as the President. She also was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Matthew's Cathedral for many years. Marilyn served on St. Matthew's Parish Council for many years as the President. She also was the softball coach for the St. Matthew girls' team for several years.
Marilyn was a person who loved helping others and serving others in any way possible. She was very outgoing and loved being with people, dancing and playing cards!
Marilyn's children would like to profoundly thank Leah, Gerald, and the Aides at EmbraceCare of Indiana and Dr. Sweeney and his staff at Caring Cove Hospice for taking such good care of their mother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Monday, June 10, 2024, at St. Matthew Cathedral 1701 Miami Street,
South Bend, IN. Gravesite services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Sunday in Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel 3718 S. Michigan St.
South Bend, IN. The rosary will be recited at 5 pm.
