Marina Consuelo Samayoa

Velasquez Samayoa, Marina Consuelo, de 88 años, residente de Newton, Nueva Jersey, falleció el miércoles 15 de octubre de 2025 en el Morristown Medical Center, tras una breve enfermedad. Nacida y criada en la Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala, Marina vivió allí la mayor parte de su vida. Posteriormente emigró a los Estados Unidos, donde residió en Los Ángeles, California, antes de establecerse en Newton en el año 2010.

Hija de los fallecidos Piedad Samayoa Larios y Nazario Velasquez, Marina fue una mujer de notable fortaleza y devoción silenciosa. Crió a sus hijas para que fueran autosuficientes, fuertes y con los pies bien puestos sobre la tierra, reflejando los valores que ella practicaba cada día. Aunque guiaba con firmeza y disciplina, bajo esa fortaleza existía un profundo amor y un corazón constante que mantenía unida a su familia. Bailarina elegante, de ingenio rápido y humor juguetón, Marina llenaba de luz y alegría a quienes la rodeaban. Su legado perdura en la resiliencia, independencia y calidez de la familia que formó con cuidado y valentía.

Marina fue precedida en muerte por su hija Nidia Maritza Villagran Velasquez en 2018, así como por su hermano y tres hermanas. Le sobreviven sus hijas Sobeyda Aime Villagran Velasquez y su esposo Martin Reyes, Peggy Vanessa Villagran Velasquez y su esposo Luis Aldana, Brenda Frinie Sanchez y su esposo Valerio Sanchez, y Niza Suset Espino y su esposo Eddy Espino. También le sobreviven sus trece nietos y sus dieciséis bisnietos.

Las horas de visita se llevarán a cabo el martes 21 de octubre de 2025, de 2 a 4 p.m. y de 7 a 9 p.m., en la funeraria Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, #156 Main Street (Rt. 206), Newton, NJ. Velasquez Samayoa, Marina Consuelo age 88 of Newton, NJ passed away Wednesday October 15, 2025 at Morristown Medical Center following a brief illness. Born and raised in Guatemala City, Guatemala, Marina had lived there most of her life. She came to the United States and had lived in Las Angelos, CA before settling in Newton in 2010.

Daughter of the late Piedad Samayoa Larios and Nazario Velasquez, Marina was a woman of remarkable strength and quiet devotion. She raised her daughters to be self-sufficient, strong, and grounded-reflecting the values she lived by every day. Though she led with firmness and discipline, beneath that strength was a deep love and a steady heart that held her family together. A graceful dancer with a quick wit and playful humor, Marina brought light and laughter to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the resilience, independence, and warmth of the family she shaped with care and courage.

Marina was predeceased by her daughter Nidia Maritza Villaran Velasquez in 2018 as well as her brother and three sisters. Survivors include her daughters Sobeyda Aime Villagran Velasquez and her husband Martin Reyes, Peggy Vanessa Villagran Velasquez and her husband Luis Aldana, Brenda Frinie Sanchez and her husband Valerio Sanchez, and Niza Suset Espino and her husband Eddy Espino. Also surviving are her thirteen grandchildren as well as her sixteen great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday October 21, 2025 from 2-4 and 7- 9 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main Street (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday October 22, 2025 at 10 AM in the Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church #209 Rt. 206 Branchville, NJ. Private Cremation services will follow.
