MARIO BERARDI passed in his Newton home surrounded by loving family on the morning of Nov. 24, 2023, age 91. He was born Nov. 11,1932 in Boville Ernica, Frosinone Province, Italy. Son of the late Giacomo and Giuseppa (DeFilippis).

He was predeceased by two brothers (Gus and Querino), sister Cesira Trovini, and brother and sister-in law Paul and Jolene DeLuca and many loving cousins.

Mario arrived in the U.S. in November, 1947 and made his home in Newton.

Mario leaves his loving wife of 68 years, Anna (DeLuca) Berardi, his loving, devoted children – Peter and Paula; his beautiful, loving grand children –Kara and her husband Joseph Curtis, Laura Berardi and Mario Berardi-Sanger, great grandchild Joey Curtis, his very devoted brother-in-law Joseph DeLuca and wife Lorna, many loving nieces and nephews, cousins, friends.
Upon arriving in the U.S. he held various jobs until 1953 when he joined the Raytheon Company. At age 60 he retired after 41 years of service as an electronic lab technician and was an integral part of the creation of the Desert Storm Patriot Scud Buster (1991).
Mario was a loyal fan of the Boston Bruins, was an active member of two bowling leagues, a regular attendant in the fitness gym and regularly walked 5 miles every day. He loved to go food shopping, and was so expert at it! In his earlier years, Mario was an assistant butcher in an independent grocery store and so, he was very knowledgable about the best selection of meats. He was also extremely talented in picking out the most perfect fruit and vegetables!
Mario most especially loved being with family - the children and the many friends and relatives who visited frequently. He also enjoyed frequent trips in and out of state to be with relatives and friends.
He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, friend.
He will be sadly missed by many people as he rests in peace.

Visiting hours in the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 30 from 4-8pm and again on Friday morning at 9:15am before proceeding to Our Lady's Church, Newton, for a 10:30am Funeral Mass. Burial to follow at Newton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate memorials to: Our Lady's Church, 573 Washington St, Newton MA 02458 and/or to Catholic TV, 34 Chestnut St, Watertown, MA 02471.
