Mario J. Corbi age 84 of Sebring, died at 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 27, 2006 at Salem Community Hospital. He was born August 3, 1921 in Alliance, Ohio to Corace and Elena (DeCarolis) Corbi, and was a lifelong area resident. For the past twelve years he was an active member of the Copeland Oaks Community. Mr. Corbi graduated from Alliance High School in 1940. Mario's passion for aviation and his strong sense of family were constant throughout his life. After serving in the Navy on a Destroyer in WWII, he worked as an electrician at Taylorcraft, where he first learned to fly. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate Mt.Union Auto Repair. He then founded MJ Corbi Aircraft Sales, the forerunner of the current Corbi Aircraft Sales. He was a commercial rated pilot with over 60 years of experience in aviation. He attended First Baptist Church and was a 50+ year member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He was also a member of the Sebring Area Council. Mario will be remembered as an avid pilot and businessman, but above all else he was the cornerstone of the family he loved so dearly. Blue Skies, Mario! Survivors include his wife, Helen (Otto) Corbi, whom he married Oct.14,1940, sons Dennis (Kathy) Corbi and Ronald (Janice) Corbi, daughter Karen (John) Blaser; grandchildren Joseph (Beth) Corbi, David (Janet) Corbi, Christine Corbi, Christopher Blaser, Ann-Michele Corbi, Scott Blaser, Jennifer (Patrick) Kane and Rebecca (Alex) Grinch; great grandchildren Danielle Kane, Kaitlyn Corbi, Michelle Kane, Peyton Corbi, David Corbi and Hannah Corbi and sister Lillian Celentano of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Maria Corbi and brothers Frank L. and Henry Corbi. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, 75 S. Union Ave., Alliance, Ohio. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, 1659 W. State Street, Alliance, across from the Marketplace, with Pastor Gordon Thomas officiating.
