Hondo Funeral Home, Inc.Mario Munoz, of Bandera passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Wichita, Mario carried with him a spirit that was larger than life and a heart that belonged first and always to his family.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Mario dedicated 20 years of honorable service to his country. He served with strength, integrity, and commitment—qualities that defined not only his military career but the way he lived every day of his life.
Mario was a loving husband and a devoted father to Dylan Munoz, Dylan Schulak, Cody Schulak, Alyssa Gilmore, and Brittany Nelson. His family was his greatest pride and his deepest joy. He especially loved his wife with his whole heart, a love that was steady, strong, and unmistakable to everyone who knew them.
Known for his outgoing personality and infectious sense of humor, Mario had a rare gift for making people laugh. No matter the situation, he could lighten the mood and remind everyone not to take life too seriously. His favorite saying, “If you feel pain, you know you’re still alive,” reflected his resilient spirit and his belief in facing life head-on.
Mario found peace and happiness in the outdoors. He loved going fishing and kayaking, embracing the quiet moments on the water just as much as the lively moments surrounded by family and friends.
He will be remembered for his laughter, his strength, his unwavering love, and the joy he brought into every room he entered. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the love he gave will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
