Mario P. Ramos M.D., of Toms River, NJ passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at home in the house he built and resided in since 1971. Dr. Ramos was born in a cave during World War II amid the Japanese invasion of the Philippines in 1942.
Subsequent to graduating from the University of Santo Tomas School of Medicine, Dr. Ramos was stationed as a Medical Intern at Clark Air Base, then operated by the U.S. Air Force, and Chief Resident of Surgery at St. Vincent Medical Center in Manhattan, NY.
During his years of performing surgery at Paul Kimball, Point Pleasant and Brick hospitals, Dr. Ramos was well known for advocating for patients, pristine bedside manner, empathy, compassion, and kindness. Ultimately, Dr. Ramos put the lives of his patients first and humbly said at the conclusion of every surgical operation, "Thanks be to God".
As a devout and active parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena RC Church in Seaside Park, NJ, Dr. Ramos had strong convictions of his faith and led a very spiritual life through good and trying times.
Dr. Ramos is predeceased by his parents Teofanes Del Prado Ramos and Calixta Salud (Pacis) Ramos, his wife Elaine Ramos and his sister Delia Ramos.
Surviving are his children Donna Ramos-Hart and her husband Kevin Hart of Toms River, NJ and Robert Ramos of Toms River, NJ; his siblings Teofanes Jr., Rolando, Carlos, Aurora, Ramon, and Jaime; and his grandson Cameron Robert Hart.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday January 4, 2023, from 9-10:30am at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 809 Central Ave. Seaside Park, NJ. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11am at St. Catharine of Siena RC Church in Seaside Park, NJ. Burial will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Toms River, NJ.
