Grumpy was born in Perth Amboy, NJ and was a longtime resident of Toms River, NJ.
He proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.
Grumpy was a founder of Flannery, Webb and Hansen Land Surveying in Toms River, NJ and founder, owner and operator of Grumpy's Tackle in Seaside Park for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Catherine (nee Gribbon), four sons; Bobby Caldwell, Chris and Matt Hansen and David Black, four daughters; Dawn Henderson, Lisa Phillips, Elizabeth Raty and Christine Nesseth, a brother, Raymond Hansen, a sister, Barbara Hansen, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 2:00pm – 6:00pm at the Seaside Park Tri-Boro Hall, 61 J. Street, Seaside Park, NJ 08752.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 809 Central Ave., Seaside Park, NJ,

Been into Grumpys a number of times. Who was this old bearded guy behind the counter that had little counterside manners but seemed to know a great deal about fishing. Took his sage advice and always had an enjoyable experience. We´ll miss him
