Rufus F. Hay Jr. "Butch" 82 of Pine Lake Park, Manchester Township, NJ
passed away peacefully surrounded by all of his family on Saturday November 1, 2025.
Born in Bayville, NJ, he lived in Seaside Park and Manchester Township. During the Vietnam War, Rufus proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps. Upon his discharge, he joined the New Jersey State Police and rose to the rank of Lieutenant before his retirement. After serving his country and state, he devoted all of his time and effort into his family and friends building five homes for his family and numerous construction projects for friends. He spent winter months in Florida with his loving wife, Polly. He was a Free and Accepted Mason, Harmony Lodge #18 Toms River, NJ and was a member of the Veterans Lakehurst Diner Club. He is predeceased by his parents Rufus F. Sr. and Anne (Endreson), brother John Hay and
2 sisters Margaret Piccoli and Ellen Marzulli. Rufus is survived by his loving wife Polly, two sons; Rufus F. III and his wife Anne, and Bruce and his wife Victoria all of Whiting, NJ, two daughters; Bonnie Kraus and her husband Karl of Ames, IA and Sherry Hay
of Manchester, NJ and his brother Thomas Hay of Edgewater, Florida. He leaves 9 grandchildren Nickolas (Megan), Rufus Z. (Christina), Alexandra (Quentin), Stefan (Elizabeth), Gabriella (Alex), Lorelle, Gillian, Lindsey, Bruce and 4 great grandchildren (Rufus Henry, Dean, Gemma and Mila).
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing for Rufus on Saturday November 8, 2025 from 11am until a Service at 1pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 809 Central Ave, Seaside Park, NJ. Committal will be private.
