Mildred J. Bersch

Mildred J. Bersch, 94, of Toms River, passed from this life peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Mildred was born April 25, 1931, in Paterson, NJ to the late Joseph and Florence (Coogan) Loughrey. She lived in West Paterson before moving to Toms River in 1992. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. Mildred is predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Philip Bersch, and a sister Jane Danbrowney.

Mildred earned her bachelor's degree from Paterson State Teachers College and was a teacher for St. Andrews Elementary School in Clifton, NJ for over 15 years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and spending time at the beach. She was a homeowner at Surf Cottages Homeowners Association since 1966. She was also a member of St. Catharine of Sienna RC Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Mildred is survived by three children, Thomas Bersch and his wife Lesley of Toms River, NJ, Patricia Quinn of Toms River, NJ, Robert Bersch and his wife Jacqueline of Metuchen, NJ, seven grandchildren Kristen Quinn (Joel Dugan), Dana Kura (Kevin Kura), Allie Quinn (Dany Oliveira), Danielle Feibisch (Justin Feibisch), Matthew Bersch (Dana Bersch), Maddie Bersch, Zac Bersch, twelve great grandchildren Ayden Quinn, Kaleb Kura, Paige Kura, Claire Kura, Sadie Kura, Leah Feibisch, Lily Feibisch, Stella Feibisch, Cameron Bersch, Reece Bersch, Liam Oliveira and Millie Oliveira.

The family will receive friends and family on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 809 Central Ave., Seaside Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at St. Catharine of Sienna RC Church with burial to follow at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
