77, of Cranston, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Cherry Hill Manor in Johnston. He was the beloved husband for 49 years of the late Anna (Marraffino) Schiappa. Born in Itri, Italy, he was the son of the late Luigi and Giovanna (Sinapi) Schiappa.
He was the owner of Greenville Landscaping and was a member of Holy Ghost Circolo Giovanni XXIII; St. Anthony’s Bocce Club - “Madre Cabrini”; and the Italian Bowling League.
Mario was the devoted father of David Schiappa and his wife Sheri and Michael M. Schiappa and his wife Erica, all of Cranston; cherished grandfather of Aria, Andrew, Lily and Aubrey; and dear brother of Antonio Schiappa and Rosalba Damiano of Providence, Franco, Salvatore and Pietro Schiappa, all of Cranston, Angela Milano of Johnston and the late Francesco Schiappa.
His funeral will be held on Friday, March 6th at 8:45 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Ghost Church, 1 Knight St., Providence at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Thursday, March 5th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
