Mario Tedeschi

Mario Tedeschi passed away on November 23, 2025, in Fairfax, Virginia, at the age of 76 years with family by his side. He had lived in Livingston, New Jersey, for over 40 years and had recently moved near his son Andrew in Virginia.
Mario was born in Vallata, Italy, to Pasquale Aurelio Tedeschi and Maria Branca. He and his family immigrated to Elizabeth, New Jersey when he was 9 years old. Mario received his bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, where he was elected to serve as president of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity. Soon after he graduated from college, he met his wife of 36 years, Shelley, through his sister Felicia, who had studied abroad in Florence with her.
For over 20 years Mario worked as a Manager of Market Research at Thomas' English Muffins, Lysol, Thompson-Minwax, and Sherwin-Williams, all in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. Mario enjoyed woodworking projects in his home, including creating a full-sized swingset and elevated clubhouse, built-in cabinetry, a child's bedframe, and a deer-proof garden structure. He liked learning about history, listening to music – particularly The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Doors, and The Eagles – and volunteering as a prep cook at a local soup kitchen. In retirement, he traveled to Turkey, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Peru, Galapagos, and China. He especially enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren in Boston and Northern Virginia where he would play games and cook with them. While Mario grieved the loss of Shelley in late 2013, he knew her spirit lived on in each of his grandchildren.
He will be missed by his children Sara Tedeschi (Jim Psota) and Andrew Tedeschi (Kate Tedeschi); grandchildren Sophia, Samuel, Vivienne, Theodore, and Lillian; and siblings John (Mary), Carmela, Rose (Tom), Felicia (Peter), Lucia, and AnnaMarie (Gary). He is predeceased by his wife, Shelley Krasner, and brother, Tony.
