Marion G. “Marty” Harpold, 90 of Kokomo, formerly of Carmel, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025. Marty was born April 27, 1935 in Brazil, IN to the late Ansil and Alberta Harpold. After graduation from Brazil High School in 1953, he moved to Kokomo, IN and attended Indiana University Kokomo.
Marty’s career with Allstate Insurance Company extended over 30 years. He retired as a field manager in 1995. During his years of retirement Marty was an active golfer. He enjoyed attending Butler men’s basketball games. His love for the Pacers was well known and he cheered for the Pacers during both of their NBA finals playoff runs.
He was an active member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Carmel and the Indianapolis Episcopal diocese for over 50 years.
Memorial services will be held Friday, August 1 at 1:00 pm at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church 1402 W. Main St. Carmel, IN. Prior to that, family and friends will gather at noon in the library with the inurnment following the service in the church columbarium. The reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
Marty is survived by his wife, Gail; stepson, Dr. Raymond J.“RJ” Metz, Jr. and wife Kimberly and children Hannah and Quinn Metz. Also surviving are sons, Tim and wife, Johnnna, Todd and wife Sharon and Troy Harpold; sister, Marilyn Tucker, and brothers Ansil Harpold and James Harpold and wife, Carol. Grandchildren: Ashley and husband, Zach Stillions, Lizzie and husband, Adrian DeVilliers; and brothers- in-law Peter R., Timothy P. and Michael K. Jefferson. In addition, great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews to love and cherish his memory.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Societyor St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church.
