Marion Leavada King Jackson was born January 27, 1957, in Magee, MS, to Maudekiah King, Sr., and Dora Smith King. She passed away on July 24, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, with her son by her side.
After graduating from Magee High School in 1975, Marion furthered her education at Hinds Community College and William Carey University, where she earned two master's degrees in education. She married Keith Jackson on July 14, 1985, and through this union they had two wonderful kids, Kemiaya and Kalen Jackson.
Marion was a lifelong educator of Simpson County. She had a passion for teaching and serving the children in the community where she was raised.
Marion attended Faith Tabernacle and St. Mary Church. She loved to travel and see the world. She had the opportunity to visit Paris and Barcelona, and recently went to Niagara Falls in Canada. She was a beloved Yaya to her grandchildren and cherished spending time with them.
She is survived by her son Kalen Jackson (Jarbrielle); grandchildren, Braylen, Ivy Skyy, Kyzer and Koda Jackson; brothers Maudekiah King, Jr. (Pam), Kelvin King (Vanessa), Mark King and Malcolm King (Nicole); sisters Jacqueline King, Dolores McDonald and Dr. Constance Parkman (Kendrick); sister-in-law, Lavonda King; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Terrence, K.P., and Londyn were dear to her heart.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Keith Jackson; parents, Maudekiah and Dora King; daughter, Kemiaya Jackson; and brother, Marlin King.
Public visitation will be held at Tutor Funeral Home, 822 Simpson Hwy 149, Magee, MS, on August 1, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Family with friends visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, at First Baptist Church of Magee at 12:00 p.m. with a two-hour visitation period preceding the service. Interment will follow at Gregory Cemetery with Reverend Billy Page.
