Marion Johns Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 28, 2023.
FORT WORTH - Marion Louise Johns, age 93, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away from this life into the next on Wednesday night, October 25, 2023. After an evening of her children and grandchildren sharing words of love over her, she peacefully entered into her reward. Alzheimer's had stolen away her mind, but she was finally able to slip into her new body and her new mind.
Marion Louise was born on May 26,1930 in Fort Worth, Texas, in an ambulance driving around the county courthouse. After arrival at the hospital, the birth of her beloved twin brother, Marvin Keith soon followed. She grew up in Fort Worth with her parents, Thomas Walter Hicks and Ollie Lee Tennison Hicks and her six brothers. Being the only sister, they affectionately referred to her as "Sister".
While working at the Rocket Club on Jacksboro Highway, she met a young Air Force sergeant by the name of Lemuel Johns. They were soon married on August 5, 1950, and a little over a year later, their first child, Robert, was born. Four years later came a daughter, Janet. As a career military family, there were soon stops in Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, and Illinois. During this time, Marion was mainly a housewife, raising her two kids, but did one stint as a dental assistant.
After retiring from the Air Force, Lemuel moved his family back to Fort Worth. The family immediately joined Normandale Baptist Church. For several years, Marion worked at Tandy Craft Tools, but she mostly served selflessly in her church and community. Her passionate pursuit of servanthood is her legacy and countless are those who have been served.
Marion is survived by her son, Bob Johns and wife, Debbie, of Waco, Texas; her daughter, Janet Wynne and husband, Paul, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Lauren Ivy of Fort Worth, Jammie McLain and husband, Aaron, of Fort Worth, Allie Lamb and husband, Brian, of Fort Worth, Tyler Wynne of Fort Worth and Hannah Johns of New York City. She also has a beautiful progeny of great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel D. Johns of Fort Worth, Texas.
The funeral service will be at Normandale Baptist Church on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 2 p.m., with burial to follow at Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation will take place on Thursday evening, November 2, 2023, at Greenwood Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m..
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Normandale Baptist Church in support of their Snack Packs ministry which provides weekend snacks for area school children in need of food.

As a young girl she would be there to greet all of us kids getting out of Sunday School and she gave the best hugs.
