Marion Kaipio (85) passed away peacefully December 9, 2022 at her daughter's home.
She was born January 29, 1937 in Mesnard Location, daughter of the late Alexander and Irma (Halvari) Waisanen.
She attended Hancock Central High School, leaving in the 11th grade to work at The Copper Range Laundry office. She was employed at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility, retiring after 35 years of caring for others in 2003.
She married Raymond Pelto in 1954. Raymond passed away in 1957. She married Thomas Kaipio in 1959. Thomas passed away in 2006.
Also preceding her in death were her son-in-law Scott Kopke, brothers Matt, Kenneth and Marvin Waisanen, sisters Sandra Kotajarvi and Ruth Waisanen.
She is survived by her sons Richard Pelto, Steven (Barbara) Pelto, and daughters, Diane Kopke, and Karen (Brad) Kaipio-Codere; grandchildren, Greta, Betsy, Sally, Sarah, Holly, Steven, Nicole, David, Maija, and Mason and fifteen great-grandchildren. Sister Helen (Don) Waarala and brother John Waisanen and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
At the request of Marion, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.
Her cremains will be buried in the spring at Waasa Cemetery.
