MARLBOROUGH - Marion Goldstein Ruminski, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away after a courageous multi-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease on February 25th at the age of 82.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on April 24th, 1943 to Claire and Robert Goldstein, Marion lived a full life - full of love, family, and much humor, that would all serve as great assets for her throughout her years. Family was everything to Marion, and she loved her children, extended family, and friends with everything she had. Marion had a rapier wit and fabulous sense of humor, and she would instantly light up any room she walked into. She was easy to be around, with a “go with the flow” personality, and was always up to try something new.

From a very young age, Marion knew she wanted to help children in some way. Upon graduating from Westwood High School in New Jersey in 1960, she attained her degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Columbia University in 1967. While balancing full-time work and young children at home, she later graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a 6th Year Degree in Education. Marion’s calling became clear - working with children in primary and middle school settings to help them find their voice. She accomplished this work with much passion and heart, and was awarded the distinction of Connecticut’s Teacher of the Year in 1998.

Beyond her work, few things captured Marion’s attention more than a good book. She was a voracious reader and was always seen carrying a novel from the likes of Stephen King or James Patterson. If she wasn’t reading, Mom was basking in the ephemeral sounds and progressions of classical music, and would regularly find herself entranced while listening to Mozart’s 21st Concerto.

While Marion lived a mostly quiet life in retirement, that chapter was punctuated with some forever memories, including a solo trip to her spiritual homeland Israel, accompanying her son Joshua to Lincoln Center to listen to the classical greats, and a vacation in Turks and Caicos with her daughter Sarah to soak in some sun, which was an activity she loved dearly. On a sunny day you would frequently find Marion tending to her garden or just sitting outside enjoying the air with a tall glass of sun tea.

Beyond her peaceful moments and adventurous trips, Marion experienced the greatest of joy in her granddaughters Annadelia and Lailah. She took keen interest in all stages of their childhood, and adored their many developing talents, including their singing abilities both on and off stage. Her face never failed to light up upon seeing them, even towards the very end of her life.

Marion’s big heart and bright mind will be missed by many and for a very long time.

Marion is survived by her son Joshua Ruminski and wife Shanna Weston, her daughter Sarah Ruminski and husband Lenny Svelnys, her son Matthew Ruminski, and granddaughters Annadelia and Lailah Ruminski, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and extended family.

A service in celebration of Marion’s life will be held on March 1st, 2026 at 12:00pm at Miles Funeral Home, located at 1158 Main Street (Rte 122A), Holden, MA. 01520, followed by a brief graveside service at Worcester Hebrew Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Auburn.
