Marion Sutter Obituary

Owatonna - Marion Ellen Sutter of Owatonna passed away on January 27th at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie with her family at her side. Marion was born on June 16th, 1923 in Waseca, MN to Leopold and Anna (Spies) Fiebiger. On December 6th, 1941 she married Hubert "Ches" Chesney. 4 months later, Ches began his military service in World War 2. He returned in December of 1945. They had 2 children, Linda and Larry. Marion became a widow in February of 1965. In June of 1967, Marion married Paul Sutter. They operated Paul's Flowers in Waseca. Marion greatly enjoyed being a florist. Other interests included painting, sewing and finally learning to swim in their indoor pool. They were enthusiastic entertainers, frequently hosting garden tours, pool parties and family gatherings in their Waseca and rural Owatonna homes. Through the years, the couple traveled across North America, visiting friends and relatives in their RV. This new passion eventually evolved into many friendships they made in the OWBO camping club. After 44 years of marriage, Paul passed in 2012, leaving Marion a widow again.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, son Larry Chesney, son-in-law Peter Johnson, brothers Edward, Leopold (Bob), Sylvester (Babe), Bill, and Don. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Chesney Johnson, grandchildren Pete (Joan) Johnson and Lisa Cruz-Johnson, great grandchildren Evan and Isaac Johnson, and 6 step great grandchildren and families.

A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Praire, MN.
