Marion Evelyn Thornton, 92, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born December 29, 1932 in Ogdensburg, New York to the late John Laurence “Larry” and Frances Young Murray. Also preceding her in death is her husband Charles Robert “Chuck” Thornton on April 10, 2010 in Rogers, Arkansas.
Marion and Chuck lived many years raising their family in North Syracuse, New York. Marion worked for several years at the General Electric plant in Liverpool, N.Y. and at the Huntington Family Center in Syracuse, N.Y. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, playing bridge having achieved Life Master status in bridge, and was an avid bingo player.
Marion is survived by her sons, Mark Laurence (Debby) Thornton and Christopher Paul (Connie) Thornton, all of Webster, N.Y., Glenn Robert (Lora) Thornton of Owensboro, and daughter Susan Therese (Benny) Daughtry of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; a brother, Joseph (Jenny) Murray of Lisbon, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, Brooke, Kyle, Jonathan, Matthew, Dillon, Eric, Jason, Brendan, Andrew, and Caitlin; and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, December 16, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10 AM until 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Private burial will be at 10:30 AM E.S.T. Wednesday, December 17 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY.
