Marion J. Vanderbilt was born on September 20, 1934 in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania to Peter & Mary. She was the beloved wife to Samuel Vanderbilt for 63 years. Marion and Sam had 3 children. She is preceded in death by her parents Peter & Mary and her sister Marjorie Anne.
Marion is survived by her sister Marlene (Patti) and her brother Peter Timothy, 3 children - Tamara, Natalie and Mark, 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
As a child, Marion always had Wanderlust and wanted to travel. When she met and married her husband, who was a decorated Army Aviator, her travel dreams came true. She traveled all over Europe and the United States including Hawaii. Marion managed a house and three children through 13 military moves across two oceans. She attended Southwest Texas State College majoring in Elementary Education. She also worked as a supervisor for Bell Telephone. She loved the New York Times Crossword Puzzle and was a natural interior designer.
Before she was married, she volunteered to help with entertainment for the troops. One of the entertainers she met was Elvis Presley who kissed her as he exited the stage.
The family would like to thank neighbors and friends for the loving respect and care they dedicated to Marion over the years.
A special thanks is also extended to Balfour Senior Living in Littleton and Health One Hospice for their assistance in closing the curtain on a remarkable life, with dignity and comfort.
