Robert "Bob" Charles Vanderbilt, born on December 9, 1941, in Fulton, Illinois, peacefully passed away at his home in Charleston, Mississippi, on November 30, 2025.
A proud graduate of East Waterloo High School in 1960, Bob served his country by joining the United States Marines shortly after graduation, showcasing his spirit of service and dedication to his nation. Bob dedicated 41 years of his life to Superior Welding Supply, where he worked diligently and rose to the position of Manager. His commitment to his career was a testament to his strong work ethic and determination.
Throughout his life, Bob was known as an avid outdoorsman and fisherman, finding joy and solace in nature. These passions allowed him to create lasting memories with his family and friends, who will remember him as a man who cherished the great outdoors.
In October 1961, he married the love of his life, Jerilyn Beaumaster Vanderbilt, with whom he shared a loving partnership for 64 years. Together, they raised three children: Loren, Michelle, and CeAnne, instilling in them the values of hard work and perseverance. Bob’s legacy continues through his grandchildren, Matt, Lindsey, Amanda, Marisa, and Corey, as well as his great-grandchildren, Lilly, Henry, Witten, Sofia, Nolan, Mia, Asher, and Landry.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Jerilyn, and their three children; Loren Vanderbilt (Sue), Michelle Vanderbilt, and CeAnne Kaiser (Jeff) as well as his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother David. Bob leaves behind many friends who will remember him fondly for his warmth and kindness. Of the many friends Bob had, Ritchie and Drew held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Beulah Brightman Vanderbilt, as well as two brothers, Jack and Bill Vanderbilt.
Bob’s rich life, filled with love, service, and adventure, will be profoundly missed but never forgotten by those who had the honor of knowing him. His legacy of love and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
Per Bob’s wishes, there will be no services held. Anyone wishing to send memorial contributions in his name can be sent to St. John’s Parish Church, PO Box 30 Charleston, MS 38921.
