Marjorie A. Benzel, 93, lifelong resident of Grand Island passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Tiffany Square Care Home.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in the Sanctuary.

Services in her honor will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Peace Lutheran Church. Pastor Carl Eliason will officiate. Burial to follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marge was born on June 29, 1931, daughter of Otto and Freida (Lammers) Carmann in Grand Island. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School. On March 28, 1950, she was united in marriage to Richard Benzel. They made their home in Grand Island where they raised their five children.

Early on, Marge was a baker for local grocery stores and was able to perfect baking donuts, cakes, cookies and other sweets that were her and her families' favorite. She also welcomed many children into her home while running an in-home daycare.

Marge was a lifetime member of Peace Lutheran Church. She shared her faith with her grandchildren reciting the Lord's Prayer often throughout the day. Marge always had something sweet for her grandchildren, homemade donuts or just frosting and graham crackers. Marge loved to shop and get out of the house every day, even if it was just a walk or to get ice cream. She was a devoted mother and loved being a Grandma and Great-Grandma.

Marge is survived by her children, Jeff Benzel, Bradley (Susan) Benzel, William "Bill" (Rosanne) Benzel, and Lana (Shawn) Myers; grandchildren, Steven Jr., Veronica, Lacey, Alison, Bradley Jr., Sara, Justin, Alex, Amelia, and Kamie; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; son, Steven; grandson, Jeremy; brothers, Harold and Ralph; and sister, Norma.
