Marjorie Jean Busko (nee Smith) passed away peacefully on August 25th in Baltimore, MD surrounded by her three children.
Margie was born January 11, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA, the youngest among four daughters of Frederick and Florence Smith. After graduating from Penn State University with a degree in Psychology, she worked in Human Resources at Crucible Steel, where she met her husband, Bill. Margie then went on to raise their children. The family moved from Pittsburgh to Middletown, OH in 1969 and two years later moved to Baltimore, where Margie called home.
Margie was an active member of Towson Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon. She was a long-time member of Eagle's Nest, where she held leadership roles and was an avid tennis player and golfer. Margie loved gardening, both at home and with her Garden Club. She immersed herself in community projects, including serving as President of the Ravenhurst Neighborhood Association, board member of The Maryland Tennis Association and Tournament Director, along with her husband, of the Maryland State Mixed Doubles Championships.
Margie will always be remembered for her love of family, lasting friendships, celebrating traditions, family travels, handwritten notes, well-played bridge hands, rallying the Steelers and late-night energy. Her positive spirit is a lasting inspiration.
Margie is survived by her children Lisa B. Johnson (Michael), William D. Busko II (Morgan) and Eric K. Busko, and her grandchildren Mae, Harper, Elsa, Sophie and Billy Busko. Margie was predeceased by her husband William D. Busko and her daughter-in-law Mary Bernhardt Busko.
A memorial service will be held at Towson Presbyterian Church, 400 W. Chesapeake Avenue, on Saturday, September 21st at 12:00. A reception will follow at Eagle's Nest, 12801 Stone Hill Road, Phoenix.
Gifts may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org or P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284.
