Marjorie Spicer Danforth, age 93, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, in Logan, Utah, after suffering a stroke. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she approached life with determination and valued the connections she built throughout her life.
Born on March 28, 1932, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Florence (Ashby) and Marshall Spicer, she was raised alongside her sister, Rozella, and brothers, Samuel and Jack, all of whom preceded her in death. A standout athlete, she was active in her high school’s Girls Athletic Association (GAA) and graduated in 1950, beginning a lifelong love of sports.
Marjorie’s first marriage was to Dale Miller, and together they had three children: David, Kathleen (deceased), and Robert (deceased). She later married Dale Smead, with whom she had one son, Eric. She was later married to Donald Danforth.
She worked for 24 years at Delco Radio before relocating to Utah. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she cherished the friendships and faith that connected her with fellow members wherever she lived.
An energetic sports enthusiast, she competed in demolition derbies, played basketball well into her 60s, and remained a devoted Utah Jazz fan who rarely missed a game. She also enjoyed attending Salt Lake Bees baseball games, working on jigsaw puzzles, tracing her family history, and playing cards with family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, David (Carma) and Eric (Jen); son-in-law, Tracy Suttles; nine grandchildren; and a loving circle of great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, at 11:00 a.m., at Logan Canyon Ward, 325 North Lauralin Drive, Logan, Utah, with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the chapel. Interment will follow at the Farmington, Utah Cemetery.
