Marjorie “Margie” Pearl Elmgreen, age 92, of Evergreen, Colorado, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025. She was born on June 5, 1933, in Denver, Colorado, to Alene and Herbert Hinkley.

Marjorie was the beloved wife of Everett Elmgreen and the devoted mother of Lee, Janet, Paul, Pamala, and Kevin. She attended Golden High School before dedicating her life to family, children, and creative work. All Marjorie ever wanted in life was to look after children and meet her great-grandchildren—a dream she partially fulfilled when she met her great-granddaughter Adelynn, who has Down syndrome and brought her immeasurable joy.

For many years, Marjorie ran a daycare from her home, caring for more than 30 babies throughout her lifetime. She treated each child like family and poured her heart into providing them with a safe, loving, joyful start. Her creative talents were evident in the countless quilts, blankets, and baby blankets she lovingly crafted—treasures that will be cherished for generations.

She is survived by her children Kevin Elmgreen, Lee Elmgreen, and Janet Gallagos; her grandchildren Kelsey Gallagos, Makayla Gallagos, Anthony Gallagos, Gina Gallagos, Natalie Day, Makinna Elmgreen, and Trace Elmgreen; and her great-grandchildren Adelynn Day and Eden Elmgreen. She was preceded in death by her husband Everett, her son Paul, her daughter Pamala and her grandson Andrew Woodhead.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to GiGi’s Playhouse Denver, a Down syndrome achievement center chosen in honor of Adelynn and Marjorie’s lifelong love for children.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Evergreen Life Care Center for their compassionate care and support during Marjorie’s final years.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” – Revelation 21:4
