Marjorie C. Hellquist

Marjorie Christine (Larsen) Hellquist, known to her loved ones as Margie, peacefully passed away on December 2, 2023, at the age of 87. Margie was born on August 5, 1936, in Wannaska, MN, to Clarence and Evelyn(Bergstrom) Larsen. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to everyone she came in contact with.
Margie had a passion for sewing and was an amazing seamstress. During her 26 1/2 year career at Polaris Industries, she excelled in sewing snowmobile seats, one of her many positions throughout the years there. She also enjoyed doting on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margie found joy in her hobbies, which included gardening, cooking, baking, canning, fishing, quilting, crocheting and working in her flower gardens. She cherished the trips she took with her friends from the Senior Center and valued her time spent with the Ladies Aide.
Margie is survived by the love of her life for 67 years, Walter Allen Hellquist, their daughters Carol, Linda(Frank)and sons Richard (Deb), Jeff (Joanna), and Brian (Lorie). She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Tricia Port (Derek), Cassie Tryon (Tyler), Meghan Freerks (David), Ben Hellquist (Mackenzie), Aaron Hellquist (Kelly), Blake Hellquist (Lindsey), Cody Hellquist (Mercedes), Jon Hellquist, Sabrina Olson (David), Brooke Hellquist (Darian), Tyler Bahm (Brooke), Tanna Pazdernik (Kasey), Cheyenne Bahm, Jessica Hellquist, Julia Hellquist, Joshua Hellquist (Morgan), and her 13 great-grandchildren. Margie is also survived by her sister Martha Olafson, brothers Alvin Larsen (Kaye) and Arlen Larsen (Brenda), and a large extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Clarence Larsen, mother Evelyn (Bergstrom) Larsen, brother Duane Larsen (Doris), David Larsen, father-in-law John Hellquist, mother-in-law Minnie (Markel) Hellquist, and many beloved sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Margie attended Wannaska Elementary for her primary education and graduated from Roseau High School. She was a member of Spruce Free Lutheran Church, where she found comfort and solace in her faith.
Funeral services for Margie will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 1:00pm at Spruce Free Lutheran Church. Prior to the service, visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 5-7 pm at Helgeson Funeral Home. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Mickinock Cemetery in Wannaska, MN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Spruce Free Lutheran Church in loving memory of Margie.
