LYNNE E. HELLQUIST

Lynne E. Hellquist (Blakesley), age, 77, a former longtime resident of Libertyville, IL, died on Saturday, October 8th. She was born in Evanston, IL, and raised in Whitefish Bay, WI. After attending the University of Wisconsin at Madison (where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta), she graduated from Drake University, where she met her husband, Jim. She traveled widely and sailed often with her husband and family, even completing three Chicago-Mackinac races. A consummate volunteer, she was a softball coach, Brownie leader, school helper, and carpool captain. Lynne was an amazing mother, fantastic grandmother, nurturer, and wonderful listener to all who crossed her path. Becoming a teacher is something she knew she wanted to be from an early age, and she especially enjoyed her work with the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL). Lynne is survived by three children, Kristin (Mike Cunningham), Bridget (David Lesinski), and her most special son, Erik; as well as her four adored grandsons, Alex, Cole, Max, and Parker; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim; her two sisters, Karen Achille and Judy Ness; as well as her parents. A memorial service to celebrate her life is at 10 am on Saturday, October 22nd at the First Presbyterian Church, 219 W. Maple, Libertyville, IL (luncheon to follow). A memorial fund is being established for the lifelong care of her son, Erik.
