Marjorie J. (Gardner) Holub, 93, of Mehoopany passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at the Tunkhannock United Methodist Manor.
Born Sept. 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Reuben and Ethel (Posten) Gardner. She graduated from West Wyoming High School and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse by Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and retired from Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock. She volunteered her time at many Red Cross bloodmobiles in Tunkhannock and Plains Township.
She was a member of the Nativity BVM Church in Tunkhannock for over 50 years, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and worked in the office during Sunday school hours.
She was an avid reader and seamstress and loved to crochet, knit and do needlepoint, along with puzzles and crossword puzzles.
She and her husband, Joseph, were married for 62 years at the time of his passing in 2016.
She is survived by her four children, David Holub (Deb) of Drums, Pa.; Cynthia Wood (Jim) of Harrisburg, Pa.; Deborah Caudell (Mike) of Mehoopany, Pa.; Janet Banks (John) of Bradenton, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Daniel, Alton, Earl, Jack, Elmer and Henry; and sisters, Elizabeth, Sally, Ruby and Ida.
The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the entire staff of the Tunkhannock United Methodist manor, who lovingly and compassionately took care of Marge until the day she passed. Their dedication to and love for her will never be forgotten. Thank you also the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for making her last days peaceful. A special thank you to Karen Henry and Dawn Moyer for taking time on a regular basis to visit her and take her to lunch.
Family and friends are invited to attend Marjorie's Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 99 E. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, Pa., to be celebrated by the Rev. Patrick Albert and Deacon Ray Pieretti. Interment will be held in Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Friday.
Memorial donations can be made in Marjorie's name to St. Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
