Marjorie Milburn Jennings, 89, of Houston, formerly of Opelousas, LA, and Chicago, passed away. The fourth of the nine children of Clessie and Della Thompson Milburn, she was baptized at Green Chapel Methodist Church in Opelousas and lived her faith throughout her life.

A graduate of Texas Southern University (B.S., Dietetics and Chemistry), she also trained at the Cook County School of Nursing. In Chicago, she served as an administrative and teaching dietitian at Cook County, Michael Reese, Oak Forest, and Edgewater hospitals. An entrepreneur and advocate for children, she co founded The Prince and Princess Day Care Center in Harvey and organized Markham's first Head Start program. After moving to Houston in 1972, she operated a day care and later founded The National Family Home, providing compassionate care to elderly and disabled adults for decades.

She married James Jennings on November 23, 1961, and lovingly supported him in ministry; he preceded her in death in 2020.

Survivors include her children, Dr. Cecily Jennings; Dr. Chasity Jennings Nuñez (Dr. Felix Nuñez); and Christopher Jennings (Dorita); grandchildren, Jamie Chinn Jones (Dedrick), Cecilia Nuñez, Christopher Nuñez, and Christopher Jennings Jr.; great grandchildren, Savannah, Dedrick Jr., Saraiya, and Skylar; and a large extended family.

"Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." Proverbs 31:30.
