Obituary of Marjorie F. M. Meyer
Marjorie F. M. Meyer
Marjorie F. M. Meyer, age 94, a long-time resident of Elgin, IL passed away July 25, 2024 at HarborChase of Plainfield, IL. She was born June 22, 1930 in England.
She is survived by her sons, Robert J. (Laura Theodoru) Meyer and David J. Meyer; grandchildren, Jeffery Brandon Robert Meyer, Justin Theodoru, Sarah Theodoru, and Hannah Reyes; great-grandchildren, Athena and Kobe Meyer; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends also survive.
Marjorie grew up during WWII in England and always mentioned how close Germany was to invading them. She came to the United States in 1953, not intending to stay long. She stayed and received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of St. Francis in Joliet. She was a nurse for St. Joseph Hospital and Sherman Hospital both in Elgin.
Marjorie worked hard, stood her ground, was stubborn, refused to be bullied, and wanted to be a good example for her sons. In 1974, she gained sobriety and quit smoking. She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and the Community Crisis Center in Elgin, helping women get into better situations. She was always ready to help those in need and would donate money to individuals when she noticed they needed assistance.
A private family gathering for Marjorie F. M. Meyer will be held at a later date. As it was her wish, her body was donated to medical science to assist the medical profession.
