Joanne Boling Marshall of Siler City, NC, passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2026, at the age of 88. Born February 6, 1938, she was the daughter of Marvin J. Boling and Mattie Mae Dark Boling.
After graduating from Siler City High School, she attended one year at Pfeiffer College. In 1957, she married Bobby G. Marshall, and they began a family. After her children entered elementary school, Joanne returned to college, at UNC-G earning a B.A. degree in accounting and becoming a CPA. After gaining a few years of experience, she opened a successful practice in her hometown of Siler City, which she maintained until her retirement.
Joanne’s deep religious devotion grounded her life. Her demeanor inspired a peaceful presence, helped create a hospitable home, and guided her generous heart. A variety of churches contributed to her faith through the years. Most recently she found a warm reception and community of fellowship at Siler City Presbyterian Church.
Throughout her adult life, her children and grandchildren were her joy and a focal point of her attention. She is survived by four children: Jay (Judi) Marshall of Greens Fork, IN, Kelly Marshall, Dee Brady, and Jeanne (Wayne) Lamb, all from Siler City, her grandchildren Kailee, Carson, and Kinley Lamb, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved companion, Misty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 33 years, her infant son, Robert D. Marshall, a granddaughter, Claire Brady Campbell, an older brother, Ronald J. Boling, and a twin sister, Judy Boling Stanford.
Visitation will be held at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, 230 N. 2nd Ave. Siler City, NC 27344, on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 12:00- 12:50, with the funeral service immediately following in the chapel at 1 PM. Reverend Richard LaDew will be officiating the services. The public is welcome.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Joanne's honor to Siler City Presbyterian Church, 720 W. 3rd St. Siler City, NC 27344.
