Marjorie passed away on April 5th, 2025In Loving Memory of Marjorie A. Matthis June 21, 1952 – April 5, 2025
Marjorie A. Matthis, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and inspiring sister, passed away on April 5, 2025, at the age of 72. Her life was a testament to resilience, selflessness, and quiet strength-a guiding light to all who knew and loved her.
Born on June 21, 1952, Marjorie lived a life marked by hard work, kindness, and deep familial devotion. In 1985, she married the love of her life, Bill N. Matthis, and together they shared a life grounded in love, mutual respect, and shared responsibilities. Marjorie was the heart of her home-organizing, caring, and ensuring that every detail was tended to with unwavering dedication.
As a single mother, prior to her marriage to Bill, her love, bravery and sacrifices laid the foundation for her children's success. She was the proud mother of Rick White (wife, Shelley) and Jenni (Matthis) Foy (husband, Brandon), and a devoted grandmother to Alexander, Evan, Mackenzie, and Cameron. Her strength and steady guidance helped shape their lives in the most meaningful ways. She was not only a maternal figure but also a trusted friend and listener.
Professionally, Marjorie built a respected career in accounting, working for many years in the innovative small business sector, at MetroLaser. Later in life, her entrepreneurial spirit flourished as she pursued a new venture, at Snap-On, with her husband, Bill. With characteristic determination, she earned her college degree from California State University Fullerton later in her career-an achievement that reflected her dedication to growth and learning.
Her passions extended well beyond her professional life. Marjorie was a talented seamstress and quilt-maker, a gardener with a green thumb, and a home-making enthusiast who could roll up her sleeves on any project (with a lot of help from Bill). She found great joy in travel, especially during family trips to her beloved childhood summer destination, Minnesota, where she made lasting memories with her sister Rona and many cousins.
Marjorie was the beloved sister of Rona, Maury, and Irvin, and was preceded in death by her brothers Kevin and Patrick. She was a dear sister-in-law to Gloria, Connie, and Karen, and held a special place in the hearts of her extended family.
To those who knew her, Marjorie will be remembered as someone who gave without hesitation, loved unwaveringly, and showed remarkable will and devotion throughout her life. She handled life's challenges with grace and resolve and always found time to lift
others up-even if it meant sacrificing her own comfort. Her legacy lives on in the strength of her children, the joy of her grandchildren, and the warmth of every memory she touched.
She will be missed dearly and remembered always.
A celebration of life will be held by her family at Bella Vida funeral home at 9661 W. Chinden Blvd on Saturday, April 12th at 1pm.
