Marjorie A. McAllister

Marjorie Ann McAllister, age 90, born in Henry, IL on June 20,1935 passed away peacefully at home on October 19th. She was the daughter of Louis and Alta (Rinehart) Hofer. Marj was preceded in death by her parents, Pete McAllister and 5 siblings: Edward Hofer, Dorothy Monier, Leland Hofer, Harold Hofer and Louis Hofer.
Surviving are Laurie (Jon) Sauer, Steve (Jeannine) McAllister, Jude Waller, sister-in-law Rita Hofer, nine grandchildren: Graham McAllister, Sarah Kill, Elijah Rumler, Jeb Sauer, Jessie Sauer, Holly Sauer, Zachary McAllister, Lindsay Pooch and Ashlee Blahak, 15 great grandchildren: Rylee, Kamree, Oaklee, Navee, Lucy, Hunter, Harper, Madelyn, Arlo, Vivienne, Cameron, Owen, Oliver, Ogden, and Weller. Marj worked as a receptionist for Physicians and Family Medicine for many years, as a guide for Peoria Charter, at Immaculate Conception Convent all in Peoria and during the Fall season at Tanner's Orchid in Speer.
She was a lifetime member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe and attended daily mass for many years, participated in various church organizations as well as a trustee in the past. Also, she helped her brother, Louis, serve those in need in Appalachia for many years. Her grandchildren were a highlight in her life, with all grandchildren actively involved in sports. She enjoyed spending as much time as she could traveling anywhere so she could watch her grandchildren play. She loved the game of baseball, making many trips in state and out of state to watch her three grandsons play high school, college and professionally. Watching and rooting for her grandson pitch in the World Series for the Cleveland Indians brought her great joy, she was however a lifelong Cubs fan.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and a Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 11am at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe, with visitation held one hour prior to Mass and luncheon after Mass at the Parish Hall. Burial of ashes will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Henry. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
