Nancy Katherine Herold McGann, age 84, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025 at the Arc of Chillicothe.
Nancy was born on April 11, 1941 to Clarence and Leona (Price) Herold. She married John P. McGann on May 14, 1960 in Quincy, IL. John preceded her in death on August 25, 2017. Also preceding her in death are her parents; her daughters, Amy and Ann; her sisters, Wanda Derhake and Margie Augustin; and her best friend, Judy Gotch.
Surviving are her sons, Michael (Kim) McGann of Chillicothe, Patrick McGann of Edelstein, Mark (Mary) McGann of Chillicothe and Timothy McGann of O'Fallon, MO; her precious grandchildren, Nathaniel, Connor (Taylor), Haley and Brenden; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Molly.
Nancy graduated from Notre Dame High School in Quincy, IL and attended Illinois Central College. She worked for Illinois Bell Telephone in Quincy and for Foster and Gallagher in Peoria. She then owned and operated Nancy's Bookkeeping in Chillicothe for several years as a bookkeeper and income tax preparer.
Nancy was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and former member of St. Mary of the Woods Church Altar and Rosary Society in Princeville. Nancy was a den mother and was active in the Rome Youth Activities. She also enjoyed camping, traveling, quilting and being with her family.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 11am at St. Edward Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 4pm to 6pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home with recitation of the Rosary at 3:30pm. Burial of ashes will follow the services at Blue Ridge Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
