Marjorie Hawke Pretti, 78, of Downingtown, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, with her family by her side.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late C. Walter Hawke and Gertrude Jones Hawke.
Marjorie held several jobs throughout her life, but her most treasured roles were as a devoted wife to Stephen, loving mother, and proud grandmother-affectionately known as "Da" by her grandchildren. She dedicated her life to bringing love and joy to those around her, especially cherishing the creation of special moments for her family. One of her favorites was the annual Halloween party she hosted for her grandchildren, spending months planning and using her artistic talents to transform the evening into a magical experience they would always remember. Yet Marjorie didn't need a holiday to make a day special. For many years, she spent weekly "Da Days" with her grandchildren, sharing her passions for gardening, painting, crafts, cooking, and her love for the Philadelphia Phillies.
She was the beloved wife of Stephen M. Pretti, with whom she shared 33 years of marriage. Their love was steady, joyful, and deeply supportive-felt by everyone who knew them. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering safety, a place where their children and grandchildren were always welcomed, encouraged, and cherished. Their bond was an amazing example of true love and devotion, the life they built together is one of her greatest legacies.
Marjorie's kindness, quick wit, and determined spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Heather R. Semanyk, and her husband, Andrew; her son, Matthew D. Yost; her sister, Jane Quillen; grandchildren-Summer and Chase Semanyk, and Jacob, Hannah, and Lillian Yost; nieces-Kathy Burns, Rachel Tebalt, Becky Quillen; and nephew, Christopher Baittinger.
She was predeceased by her sister, Tina Mitchell, and her niece, Peggy Clifton.
