Marjorie Ellen Rader, age 96 of Laingsburg, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Hurley Medical Center, Flint, MI. Interment will take place in the spring where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Carl at Laingsburg Cemetery.
Marjorie was born January 5, 1927 in Flint, Michigan to Benjamin and Bernice (Pariseau) Hescott. She was a graduate of Kearsley High School in Genesee County. She married the love of her life, Carl in Fostoria, MI, on May 14, 1949. They remained together until his passing on April 6, 2005. After their oldest three children graduated in Flint, they relocated to Laingsburg with their daughter Lynne. Marjorie enjoyed many years of vacationing and traveling with Carl and spending their winters in Winter Haven, Florida. She enjoyed quilting (by hand) and quilted many special quilts, including one for each child, grandchild and most of the great-grandchildren, she even had a quilt on the frame when she passed.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Gary (Deb) Rader, Judy (Dave) Mattson, and Lynne (Kane) Bucher; grandchildren, Michelle (Michael) Parsons, Christopher Austin, Ann (Tammy) Koponen, Mark (Laura) Honomichl Jr., Josh (Aly) Mattson, Amber (Nick) Niedzielski, Michael (Kelly) Rader, Derika Watters, Kevin (Andrea) Orth, and Kory (Maria) Bucher; great-grandchildren, Daryl, Deven, Ivy, Mark III, Christopher, Joshua, Castiel, Aiden, Adrian, Jonathan, Kadin, Nika, Aleksi, Ryan, Lucas, Isaiah, Emmett, Chloe, Logan, and Joel; great-great-grandchildren: Abigail, Jebediah, Abel and Teagan; her son-in-law, Jeff Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Carl; her daughter, Cheryl Austin and her son-in-law, Mark Honomichl Sr.
Memorials honoring Mrs. Rader should be directed to the First Congregational Church, 401 E. Grand River Rd., Laingsburg, MI 48848. The family is being served by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Laingsburg Chapel where online condolences may be shared at www.watkinsfuneralhomes.com.

Marg will always be, one of the most wonderful people! My condolences to her family they meant the world to her.
I will always remember in the 1990´s, quilting with her in Faith hall, at Laingsburg First Congregational Church. She would tell of friends, family, and things remembered. She shared several guilt free recipes. Later, when she heard I planted rows of raspberries, she made a standing order for 8 quarts (or more), to make a family favorite raspberry pie. Although she would never disclose that recipe to me.
