Marjorie Josephine "Jo" Rhoades passed away peacefully at her home on November 22, 2025, in Mason WV with family by her side. She celebrated her 97th Birthday on October 23, 2025 with family at her home.

Jo was a very active lady and was very resilient during her life. She did most of her own home upkeep, took pride in her flower garden and still drove her car, until recently. This self-dependency may be due to growing up in the Depression Era. She often told stories of life and chores on the farm where she and her brothers and sisters lived in Leon, W.V.

She also told of the many miles that she and friends walked to attend different churches in the Leon area. She always made the stories amusing and interesting.

Jo attended the Leon School from grades 1 through 8 where she developed a lifetime friendship with another student, Margie, who was a valued friend to both Jo and her children throughout their lives.

Jo was an employee at Lakin State Hospital and retired as an aide 3 after 20 years of service.

Jo met and married her soulmate David Rhoades and lived in Mason, W.V. They attended the Rutland Church of God, in Rutland, Ohio where they were both active in the church. Jo really enjoyed helping with vacation bible school and helping teach the younger children's Sunday school class.

Jo cherished her family and was happiest when spending time with family and friends. She was always available to give a helping hand, whether by listening, giving of her time, or advice and suggestions. She leaves a hole in the lives and hearts of those she leaves behind. She will be forever missed.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband, David Rhoades of Birmingham, Alabama; her parents, Homer and Nellie Oldaker of Point Pleasant, WV; and her siblings: Francis Oldaker of Grimms Landing, WV; Martha Oldaker of Lakin, WV; Mary Hayes of Buffalo, WV; Lloyd Oldaker of Carroll, OH; David Oldaker of Point Pleasant, WV; Donald "Don" Oldaker of Leon, WV; James Oldaker of Point Pleasant, WV; and Paul "Fred" Oldaker of Grove City, OH. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, John McGuire of Mason, WV; her grandson, Cody McGuire of Mason, WV; her great-grandson, Nikolas McGuire of New Haven, WV; and her stepsons, Albert Rhoades of AL and Wayne Rhoades of Odenville, AL. her grand-daughter, Mandy Oldaker of Gallipolis Ferry, brother, Homer Harrison Oldaker of Grimms Landing, WV.

Jo leaves behind her children: Marilyn Fetty (Henry) of Point Pleasant, WV; David Russell (Patricia) of Letart, WV; Randy Russell (Lisa) of Vinton, OH; and Kathy McGuire of New Haven, WV. She is also survived by her stepchildren: Frankie Rhoades of Gardendale, AL, Elaine White of Mount Olive, AL, and Lela Curry of Gardendale, AL.

Jo's grandchildren include Kevin Shawn McGuire of Langsville, OH; Christopher Young of Mason, WV; Chad Oldaker of Letart, WV; Tessa Gibbs of Letart, WV; and Katrina Cottrill of New Haven, WV.

Her great-grandchildren include Shaykesia Roach of Southside, WV, who made her home with Jo for many years and Jo's special great-great-grandson, Tristan Roach; Bryanna McGuire of Syracuse, OH; Rachel Perry of New Haven, WV; Emma Litchfield of New Haven, WV; and Ella and Adalene Oldaker of Letart, WV. Trevor McGuire of Winfield, WV; Tenton Gibbs of New Haven, WV; Ryan and Josh Roque of New Haven, WV; and Remington and Hunter Oldaker of Letart, WV.

Jo is survived by one sister, Stella Craig of Carroll, OH. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-great-great-grandchildren Ryan and Aubrey Roach, of Southside WV. She is also survived by a dear friend, Cindy McGuire of Syracuse, OH.

A special thanks is extended to her grandson, Chris Young, for the care and devotion to Grandma Jo.
